Roger P. Welshans

Senior Partner

Roger has 20 years of experience in the industry, focusing on portfolio construction, income production and financial planning management. Prior to becoming a financial planner, he opened and ran one of the largest independent bookstores in Michigan for 17 years. Roger joined CFS from RBC Wealth Management, where he served as the main annuity and closed-end fund analyst for his branch. Prior to joining RBC in 2008, he also has worked for Paine Webber, UBS and Smith Barney.

Roger believes that the more a client understands about the investments being used, the better job he can do for them. He takes the time to ensure clients fully understand what investments are being recommended, the risks involved and how they fit into the overall portfolio structure. With the increasing turmoil in the world’s financial markets, he believes investment flexibility is key. A portfolio not only will change over time, it must change, due to economic conditions. He believes that monitoring and directing this change is the chief role of the advisor.

Roger has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University. Roger holds Series 7 and Series 66 registrations through CoreCap Investments, LLC, a registered broker-dealer. Roger holds the Series 65 registration through CoreCap Advisors, LLC, a registered investment advisor and is registered in more than 10 states for Life, Long-term care, and Variable Annuities. Additionally, Roger sits on CFS' Investment Committee Board.  He has been active for more than 20 years in several charitable organizations, chief among them Planned Parenthood and Ronald McDonald House Charities.  In his spare time he enjoys hiking, biking and spending time with his six grandchildren.
